Best Buy and Nintendo's SSBB tournaments for 18 and above only?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Link Nintendo - Image 1If you're planning to go to any of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments sponsored by Nintendo and Best Buy (there's going to be another one on February 23), there's some tidbit that you may want to know: the events may possibly be for gamers 18 years old and above only. At least, that was the case in the first tournament held in L.A. last February 16.

According to one of the posters in the WiFi Wars website, many people present in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tourney were disappointed since the 18-year-old only rule was only announced by the time people were already lined up waiting for the tournament to start, leaving minor hopefuls grumbling.

Aside from the rather sad age limit, Brawlers present in the tournament were limited to using only the starting roster of characters, which meant that nobody got to play any of the unlockables, including Snake. However, items were set to Very High on the battlefield, which ensured total mayhem for the whole four-minute duration of the one-on-one matches.

As we have previously reported, there were lots of prizes in store for the winners, courtesy of Best Buy, and all participants will get to go home with a Best Buy gift card worth US 10. In case you missed out on the first tourney, you can still play catch up in the next Brawling tournaments.

Check out how the first one went in the video below!
